National MSME Sentiment Index in 2019 reflected low confidence level in business operations
and index values went below 50-threshold baseline for six out of twelve months. The overall
domestic economy was affected by export downturn due to the weakening global demand
and heightened competition in agricultural commodity exports. The sentiment index values
were also driven by higher product and service prices due to baht appreciation, which was
more pronounced that other currencies within the region.
